Vaccine Hesitancy: what it means and what we need to know in order to tackle it.

Unfortunately, we know that there is something called vaccine hesitancy, and many people are afraid of vaccination. This vaccine is so important not only to all individuals but also to the global community at large. Through this vaccination, we will be in a better position to fight the pandemic when more people will be vaccinated.

I think it’s very important for everyone to understand why this vaccine has two doses? This is because when we take the first dose, the dose is known as the primary dose. It will prime your immune system to really build antibodies and if you take the first dose, you will get some antibodies but they will not last for a long time. If you take the second dose which is known as a booster dose, it really boosts your immune system to produce a large number of antibodies. It gives you good cell-mediated immunity. Therefore two doses are essential if you really want to get good protection against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently in India, we are having three vaccines that are available that are being used in the vaccination program. The three vaccines namely, Covishield, Covaxin, and Sputnik V.The protection efficiency of these vaccines are from 60 to 80 percent. Everyone should come forward to take it.
